yes essentially chapters are expansions... i think they call them chapters because theyre continuations onto the story, much like a book.
whats the goal of any mmorpg? build up your char (although less emphasis here) play through quests and enjoy the story line, fight against your friends or random people and have lots of fun doing it. |

PvP is about testing your skills and style of play against other players. Your "Goal" is whatever you want to make it in GW. Want to explore every location? Do it. Want to be part of or start an unstoppable guild? Do it. Want to have fun in a game while playing with others? Do it. A great multi-player online game will let you determine your goals, not assign them to you.

Goals? Uhh... What are the goals in any game? Go to college? Get a job? World domination? Riches? |

Indeed, what is the GOAL in any multiplayer game?
What is the goal in WoW? What is the goal in Quake 3 or Counter Strike? Multiplayer games, especially ones with persistent characters, like WoW, Guildwars, even Diablo don't really have a GOAL as such, you just do whatever you want. Set your own goals. |

the *CHAPTERS* are called that rather than expansions because they will have about the new content equal to the entire original game they will NOT be required purchases to stay competitive you will gain more skills but consider it this way the skills available from the original game are like a really good magic deck the new chapters will put out additional cards but your very good deck will still have a good chance of winning if you are better and that is for pvp if you dont buy the new chapter it will have no effect on you at all if youdont pvp but like to explore or do the missions |

This game is 3D and it's beautifully and intuitive crafted. Because of its streaming technology, I believe botting would be cut down to a minimum. Also, when you kill things, the items are reserved for each member of the group in a cycling fashion, so you don't have to worry about the warrior (since he's in front killing) getting all the loot. Character customization is reputed to be out of this world, right down to dyeing your hair any color you want. As for the graphics, the guild capes moves with such musical grace with every twist and turn of the character... when your character kneels, or bows, or dances, it's like the cape is an extention with it's fluidity of movements. The landscapes are an awe in it of itself. Everything is perfection down to the smallest detail. The monsters are actually not dumb AI. They will go for the weakest member of the team first. If you're all the same level, they'll head for the monk or the spell casters, if you happen to have a warrior or ranger that's lower leveled, they'll be the ones that are singled out. Because the game is capped at level 20, and as it's been said on these boards over and over again... that's when the fun begins, it's not monotonous like D2. I can't count how many hundreds of hours I've spend doing baal runs just to level. Uggggh. D2 was a great game, don't get me wrong.... but IMO, it's like comparing Holiday Inn to Ritz-Carlton. |

The goal is the same for every sweet young thing. Explore, rid the world of monsters, make money and marry a cute, rich Warrior.

The goal is to have fun
It has been said in the interviews with the developers. Where traditional MMORPG's have definite goals (levels or uber items) and make you do a lot of boring stuff to get there, the goal of Guild Wars is that you should have fun getting there. The actual rewards in Guild Wars aren't that big, and can't be since the game is balanced. You quickly reach the top level, and there is no uber items or uber skills. But exploring new lands, doing new missions, solving new quests, and killing new monsters should continue to be fun. You will continue to collect skills, weapons and craft new armor to enable you to try new builds. And when you have explored all the land, done all the missions, solved all the quests, and beaten all the monsters, a new expansion pack should be available
If not, do some more PvP to keep you entertained meanwhile |

A goal would mean an end. You play single player games if you want an end (and even then you might enjoy playing it over again a few times). Any good online game, regardless if it is "traditional" or not, will not sell itself as having an end. Maybe a temporary end, but there will be possibilities of expansions, upgrades and refinements. Most people see getting to a certain level as an end, but that's their personal choice. Just because you are lvl 60, 40 or 20 in a game and can't get any higher doesn't mean you will stop. You stop because it isn't fun anymore, not because the designers said "you reached your limit." What makes GW different is its diversity in its creation. With such a strong emphasis on PvP as PvE (though many can debate one is aimed at more) you get a more interesting and defining chance at testing your skill against monsters and other players. It's a very entertaining game, but for anyone who is looking for a goal (other than have fun in general) might be disappointed.
